Peeling

Step Peeler

4×6-100/2500

The LIMAS step peeler has a unique principle and construction.  Designed to allow water-free peeling, the peeler is also compact but has a large capacity. It can be delivered with various numbers of steps to suit the capacity required.

The function is as follows: Product is pre-weighed by the batch hopper at the top of the machine. When the weight is correct and the first peeling step is empty, the weigh hopper door opens and the product is let in to start the peeling sequence.  The product is then peeled in the first step for the time set by the operator.

When the peeling time is complete the door of step one opens to move the product into the second peeling step and the same procedure is repeated. For a two-step peeler, the peeling time in each step is double that of a four-step peeler.

The peeling time and the speed of the peeling rollers is variable for each step, driven by frequency converters. This and all the other functions in the peeling sequence are controlled by a PLC.

Knifepeeler

2×6-100/2500+2x5x500

The LIMAS step peeler has a unique principle and construction.  Designed to allow water-free peeling, the peeler is also compact but has a large capacity. It can be delivered with various numbers of steps to suit the capacity required.

Up to two Knife Peeling modules can be built into a 2-, 3- or 4-Step Peeler and become a fully integrated part of the machine.

The potatoes will always be pre-peeled by abrasive in one or more steps, until almost ready peeled, before they are passed onto the knife peeling step(s).

A Knife Peeling step comprises five peeling vessels. In the bottom of each is a rotating disc equipped with four knives. A counter/rotating stirrer makes sure that the potatotes have the optimun movement at a gentle speed.

Without moving the product too fast, a high cutting speed of up to 10 metres per second is achieved by the relative speed of the counter-rotating disc and stirrer. This ensures that a very smooth cut is produces without any hacking of incompete cuts.

Peeling times for both the abrasive and knife steps are independetly adjustable at the control panel, as are the speeds of the abrasive rollers, knife discs and the stirrers.

Drum Peeler

The Drum Peeler consists of 24 peeling rollers which form a horizontal drum as implied by the name. The peeling rollers rotate on their own axis as well as the drum rotating.

Inside the drum is an auger that determines the amount of time that the product is held in the drum, i.e. the peeling time. The speed of the rollers, drum and auger are all independently variable either by mechanical variators or frequency converters.

The Drum Peeler is manufactured in two sizes, each with 24 peeling rollers. The difference between them is in diameter and length.

The peeling rollers are covered with special LIMAS carborundum for optimal capacity and longetivity. Each roller is covered with coarse abrasive at the beginning changing to finer abrasive towards the end. The Drum Peeler is universal and suitable for most root vegetables.

Slot Peeler

The Slot Peeler is a simple, robust peeler at a very economical cost. It consists of a peeling barrel and a peeling plate. The peeling barrel comprises carborundum covered peeling bars and the slotted peeling plate is covered in abrasive.

The peeling waste is pressed out during peeling between the bars and through the slots in the plate. This gives the slot peeler the advantage of working without water.

The Slot Peeler is suitable for most root vegetables. It can also be used as a pre-peeler before any other type of peeler if capacity needs to be increased.
